Engineering Experience

Design of MV/LV Distribution, Cable racking and routing, Lighting and small power design.
Power system studies, load flow analysis, fault level calculation, motor starting analysis, transient stability studies, protection grading studies, harmonic analysis and arc flash analysis,
Knowledge of applicable SANS and IEC standards pertaining to MV/LV installations.
Fault level calculation, determining a cascading and discrimination schemes for medium and low voltage circuit breaker to manage high fault levels
Load estimation and Preparation of Bill of materials
Drawing register management
CAD work and Coordination of CAD operators
Transformer / mini substation sizing
MV/LV cable sizing, including cable de-rating, cable installation methods.

Cable racking and routing designs, Rack sizing, routing detail designs i.e. showing cable rack configurations, sizes of rack, numbered cables on respective cable rack.
Earthing and lighting protection design of commercial buildings and industrial and mining infrastructure
Advanced light level simulation, employing the RELUX software package to perform accurate lighting designs of complex spaces such as a Furnace Building.
Lighting simulation on Outdoor, walkway, surface conveyor, office building, and hazardous areas, underground haulages and underground conveyors.
Function testing – Trip/Close, inputs, outputs, protection scheme testing
Electrical design of residential, commercial and industrial buildings. These included – malls, shopping centres, retail stores and stadiums

Define standards and prepare technical specifications
Compile technical documentation (URS, Works Information, COPs, FCS and FDS, PEP, FAT, SAT, Installations and Commissioning Procedures, Handover Documentation)
Prepare BOQs and assist with purchase requisitions
Design, authorize and approve engineering drawings (Network Drawings, P&IDs, GA’s, Power Distribution, PLC Termination Diagrams, Loop Drawings, Cable Schedule, IO Schedules)
Manage CAD operators and C&I Designers, mange the drawing register and revision processes
Ensure designs are carried out in accordance to standards by manufacturers/suppliers. MCC’s, SJB’s etc.
Conduct and manage the FAT and SAT processes on behalf of clients.
Write PLC codes, Configure Field and Control Room SCADA HMIs, conduct thin slice FAT for clients.
Install and commission Network Backbone Equipment, Switches, Servers, SCADA HMIs, PLCs and related control and automation equipment.
Provide technical leadership on site installations and manage contracts
Lead the commissioning team, compile close out reports and assist with the hand over process
Identify, design, participate and manage projects
Conduct risk assessments and define standards and procedures
